Osteoporosis Treatment with New Osteogenic Factors
نویسنده
چکیده
Bone homeostasis is maintained through a delicate balance between osteoblastic bone formation and osteoclastic bone resorption. Bone loss may be due to decreased osteoblastic bone formation and increased osteoclastic bone resorption. Osteoporosis is induced with its accompanying decrease in bone mass. Nutrition and functional food factors may play a role in the prevention of bone loss. This is worthy of notice in the treatment of osteoporsis. It has been shown that functional food factors including zinc, genistein and vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7) have potential osteogenic effects in vitro and in vivo. These factors have been shown to have stimulatory effects on osteoblastic bone formation and suppressive effects on osteoclastic bone resorption. Moreover, the osteogenic effects of genistein, menaquinone-7, and vitamin D3 have been found to be synergistically enhanced with combination of zinc, which plays an essential role in protein synthesis at translational process and gene expression related to zinc finger transcription factors. Intake with their combination has been shown to have potential effects in the treatment of bone loss in animal models of osteoporosis and human subjects. Supplemental intake with these compositions may have potential effects on osteoporosis treatment. Osteoporosis Treatment with New Osteogenic Factors

Gene co-expression network analysis identifies BRCC3 as a key regulator in osteogenic differentiation of osteoblasts through a β-catenin signaling dependent pathway
Objective(s): The prognosis of osteoporosis is very poor, and it is very important to identify a biomarker for prevention of osteoporosis. In this study, we aimed to identify candidate markers in osteoporosis and to investigate the role of candidate markers in osteogenic differentiation. Materials and Methods: Using Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network analysis, we identified three hub genes mig...
متن کاملCadmium treatment of rats caused impairment of osteogenic potential of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells: a possible mechanism of cadmium related osteoporosis
Background: The mechanism of cadmium induced osteoporosis is not well understood, so in this study, we examined the toxicity of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (MSCs) following treatment of rats with CdCl2 in drinking water, to revile the effect of this chemical on differentiation potential of MSCs. Methods: At the end of third passage, MSCs were grown in the osteogenic medium for 21 days....
متن کامل[In vitro effects of triiodothyronine on the reduced osteogenic potential of adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells from of ovariectomized rats and with osteoporosis].
OBJECTIVE To examine if triiodothyronine (T3) increases osteogenic differentiation adipose tissue derived stem cells (ASCs) from ovariectomized adult rats with osteoporosis compared with young rats and adult rats without osteoporosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS The ASCs were cultured in osteogenic medium and distributed into seven groups: 1) ASCs of young rats without osteoporosis; 2) ASCs of adul...
متن کاملProliferation and Differentiation of Rat Osteoporosis Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) after Telomerase Reverse Transcriptase (TERT) Transfection
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to determine whether MSC are excellent materials for MSCs transplantation in the treatment of osteoporosis. MATERIAL AND METHODS We studied normal, osteoporosis, and TERT-transfected MSC from normal and osteoporosis rats to compare the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation using RT-PCR and Western blot by constructing an ovariectomized rat model of ...
متن کاملNeural EGF-like protein 1 (NELL-1): Signaling crosstalk in mesenchymal stem cells and applications in regenerative medicine
Bone tissue regeneration holds the potential to solve both osteoporosis and large skeletal defects, two problems associated with significant morbidity. The differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into the osteogenic lineage requires a specific microenvironment and certain osteogenic growth factors. Neural EGF Like-Like molecule 1 (NELL-1) is a secreted glycoprotein that has proven, both in vi...
